yes joint’s do soften during pregnancy, but going deaf from an ear infection is silly,Your doc may not want to put you on an antibiotic but if you do have an ear infection the doc needs to get over the fear of antibiotic tolerance and give you a light dosage to protect your hearing! Is your doctor known for being Conservative? this may be the problem, even if you don’t have an ear infection, your not helping yourself or the baby by not sleeping or eating right!the risk and benefits are what your doctor is weighing so if the lack of sleep and food is safer than a medication then so be it but i wonder why the doc has,nt offered a safe form of pain relief like regular Tylenol which is safe for the baby and less invasive than anything else,I had chronic ear infections the whole time with my first baby and on the day i went into labor,i had my ears syringed finally and i haven’t had another one since,if you continue to have problems all the way thru, the doc may finally give in at the end of the pregnancy if the risk factor is down,,good luck!

So your doctor won’t do it because it will make you lightheaded? That’s a daft reason. Tell them to do it, and promise to take it easy for the rest of the day.
I’m surprised about the tramadol thing. My friend had to take those during her pregnancy because of severe back pain, (a pre-exisitng condition and prescription) and there was nothing wrong with her son.
So if you need a bit of releif, I don’t see there being any harm in taking one here and there.

I have heard of a product called Emu oil which is a pain relieving oil that is rubbed onto the skin wherever it is hurting, perhaps you could look into that, do a Yahoo search for it..I’m not sure of prices or anything like that.
Give it a looksee though :)
Perhaps you could go to the dentist to see if the problem was related to your teeth too.

If your ear is full of wax and it is hard add a drop or 2 of olive oil a day for a week, this will soften it, have shower and wash your hair, this will also soften it then get some cotton buds (sticks with cotton wool on the ends) and clean your ears with these, dont go too deep and go slow so if you do go to far you know when to stop before doing any damage.

And i also agree go to another doctor or 2 the emergancy room (i know it isnt urgent) but you will get seen and they will check your jaw and give you the apropiate pain killers, being tired hungry and in pain isnt good for your baby as it will pick upon your stress.

good luck

ear syringing is awful, i had it done and it made the problem worse i now have chronic ear infections and vertigo and my new doc wont do it at all as he thinks its the worst thing you can do to your ear. try warming a little olive oil and using a syringe or dropper to put it in your ear then put a little cotton wool in to keep the oil in place so that it does its job, or some of the over the counter remedies like otex are pretty good. it could be that your doctor is just trying to put the baby before you in this situation as light headedness caused by your ear can be more than that it can result in severe loss of balance this could cause you to fall and damage or lose your baby, have you considered that it could maybe be your teeth it could be an abscess or something.

ok well i had very bad jaw pain earlier in my pregnancy when taking tylenol didnt help i was in such bad pain i went to the er, it was my TMJ which is a mandibular joint in the jaw and yes its because i was pregnant they couldnt give medicine but told me a way to help ease the pain, now this sounds kinda silly ok but this is what they had me do, stick out your tongue and hold it out for about 10-15 minutes this will releave pressure on the jaw and help it to feel better! then try a glass of cold milk swish it on the side that it hurting for a few minutes then swallow, also try some tea with chamomile in it but it has to be hot tea, for some the heat will mak ethe pain go away for some the cold will so you will have to find out which one will help you! but still take tylenol but you can take maximum strength for this! well good luck i hope this helps you!!

I have had jaw pain off and on too - it feels like it goes out of joint. Mine doesn’t last though - it comes and goes. Try massaging it, applying heat or cold (whatever seems to work better). What others have suggested about putting warm olive oil in the ear, with a cotton ball, works for the ear. Also there’s some drops at the drug store that you heat slightly, put a few drops in the ear, then put a cotton ball in to hold the drops in - they help with the pain. Good luck!
